North Suffolk Garden Club members and their guests enjoyed a wonderful learning experience at Old Westbury Gardens when Maura Brush, director of horticulture, gave a demonstration on holiday arranging called “A Winter’s Tale: Floral Arranging for the Holidays and Beyond.” The group of 30 listened raptly as Maura gave tips on creating mantle pieces, using fruit in her floral designs, and keeping bulbs (amaryllis) refrigerated so she can replace fading blooms with a new bulb giving her continual blossoms through to Easter. After Maura’s demonstration, the group walked from the barn to Orchard Hill, the late Peggie Phipps Boegner’s former home, for high tea.
