North Suffolk Garden Club hosted a luncheon and program featuring Hazue Tamura Rogers, a floral designer certified at the highest level of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana. Hazue teaches Sogetsu Ikebana at the Nippon Club, among other locations.Assisted by Leehwa Sheih and Hiro Masuda, Hazue demonstrated the techniques and variations key to creating modern Sogetsu School Ikebana. Three important elements, she noted, are line, color and mass. Most of her plant material came from her country garden.

The event, held at the Old Field Club in East Setauket, also included a raffle of gift items, many with a botanical theme.
